Sonic Mapping:
A Musical Essay On
Black Imagination

with afrodisiac

This curated session explores how Black artists use sound, mythology, visual art, improvisation and sonic imagination as portals for dreaming and creating (otherwise). Beyond aesthetics or concepts, they share an underlying understanding of time and space - one that bends, loops, and speculates.

Through mapping these constellations, we trace connections between cosmic jazz, dub, hip hop, funk, and electronic music.

Sonic Mapping is a practice of tapping into symbol-rich, spiritually woven worlds: a sonic lecture driven by curiosity and personal research and inspired by Afrofuturism and Black Sonics as liberatory technologies.

To Listen is to Learn.

Presented by Adyam who is a DJ as afrodisiac, cultural producer and researcher/writer.
